College ID Program

From our partners at VSA:

I would like to give everyone details of the upcoming College Program at VSA. This is the 3rd year of the program at VSA and we are delighted to offer it again this year. Every year the program improves and the interaction with the coaches as a result of the program has increased substantially for the players. Last year, many of the players who participated started discussions with various schools regarding playing soccer in college and went onto commit to schools who first identified the player at the VSA College Program. The program offers a tremendous opportunity for players to be seen by college coaches and build a relationship and provide player identification opportunities.

Our goal at VSA is to provide opportunities for players to play in college when they graduate from High School. Not every player will want to take this path but we want to provide players as much information and exposure to the college game so they can make an informed decision regarding the process. The ability for players to take part in training sessions with a different college coach each week will give them the chance to view different styles and help them consider the possibility of playing college soccer. We hope that as many players as possible take advantage of this opportunity.

Here are some highlights of the program…

  • Program is limited to 40 Girls and 40 Boys players
  • Program is open to all players including players not at VSA aged U15-U19
  • The training will take place on Monday evenings in January and February (starting January 8th)
  • The program will have 8 training sessions with a different college coach every week
  • Times will be 5-6.30pm and 6.30-8pm – players will be split into two groups according to age
  • Any teams who practice on Monday will still be able to participate; we will schedule their college ID session to run at different times from team training
  • Program takes place at Long Park on turf fields. In the event of bad weather, we will reschedule all postponed sessions
  • Players will be notified of training schedule via email (estimated time of release, Dec 29th)
  • The cost of the program is $250 – this works out at approximately $32 per session. This is great value and compares very favorably to attending College ID programs at the schools.

We are still finalizing exact dates for the coaches who will be attending. The coaches who are currently committed to attend include the following:
